Honestly I just did not think testimonials were that complicated or involved.
I figured you just ask some questions, get answers and slap them up on your website…but I’ve experienced trying to get testimonials from my students and feeling very deflated about it because the testimonials I got were, sometimes, really pathetic.
I felt like maybe my services were not that great at times, but it turns out I just wasn’t very good at getting testimonials.
This product showed me that there is so much more to getting testimonials that I never would have thought of. The answer to the how, why, and when of testimonials were extremely helpful and as a result I feel a lot more confident and competent when it comes to getting testimonials.
As a result of buying the product—I’ve been about to get some really great testimonials as a result of buying the book. I have more of a systematic approach now. It seems silly to me that this is the feature I liked most but being able to listen to it in addition to having the PDF is great. I hate reading off of a screen, so the audio helped me consume it better than just having the PDF. If I don’t consume it, nothing is valuable. I guess maybe that’s not silly then.

I was able to get great testimonials during a live event I did for my students, but I never would have thought to so that unless I had bought this product.

Go out and get some testimonials and feel what it’s like to wonder why people give lame answers, then buy this product and you’ll understand why your testimonials are lame.

After having read the Brain Audit and all the free stuff on your website, there was pretty much no objection that could have prevented me from buying The Website Components Series.
I love your style and your system because no matter what topic, you do it in a fun way and there is no room for leaks. So I had no doubt I was buying quality.
Maybe if there was one objection, it would be the price because I am not used to paying 40 or 50 Euros for 3 “little” 50 page business books.

The examples in all of Sean’s books is a feature that is definitely a big plus. I’d say most of us learn more efficiently through examples and Sean has understood this perfectly.
A major benefit for me is the third book in itself. It is all about how to get people to sign up. The book shows you not just the different types of reports you can offer but goes as far a showing you step by step how to put together a very good report.
Another benefit is the way Sean teaches. Now, I haven’t been to any of Sean’s workshops yet, but having read several of his books already and being an avid “Three Month Vacation” listener, I can tell what an incredibly talented teacher he is. I wish I would’ve had such teachers at University.
I would absolutely recommend this product, yes because it is direct to the point, no useless stuff. If you buy such a series like The Website Components you are most likely looking for practical advice and this is something you are definitely going to get from these books.

I was working on this project wherein I have to collect testimonials from our clients so I read Sean’s book ‘’The Secret Life of Testimonials’’. It was a great book, very informative, my only concern was that it only address the “what” and “why” about testimonials and not the “how” to collect testimonials. So I was a little bit disappointed.
I’ve thought of sending Sean an email as I remember him saying on the book that I can reach out to him directly if I needed anything. So I did, and I also wanted to test his claim and see if he will help me out with the questions I had about my project or will he just ignore my email.
I sent him a list of questions and anticipated I’ll be waiting for days or even a week for his response as I know he’s quite a ‘’busy man’’. Surprisingly, I received an email after about 2 hours after sending my email and the email was like 10 times longer than my email! lol. I was ecstatic and I knew then that this guy is real and he really cares about his clients.

I first read the Brain Audit and it was like WOW! It all made sense and discovered a lot of new ideas to craft my marketing message. After that, I just wanted to go deeper on the art of building powerful testimonials and the book had all the answers I was looking for.

Just how much information did I really need about testimonials?
Wasn’t Sean’s exceedingly in-depth guide going to be overkill?
Actually, this wasn’t the case at all. I found that testimonials should become part of the DNA of my business. And I found a complete strategy of how to get and use strategies effectively.
What I found most useful in the book was the way that Sean showed how to use testimonials to kill customer objections. In effect, testimonials become an important part of the sales pitch. So now I am working my way through all my products using testimonials to ensure that customers are more likely to buy.
Other things that I learned from the book included:
– How to turn a so-so testimonial into a really compelling testimonial
– How I could use the same testimonial in many different ways
– The importance of faces and personal details
I would thoroughly recommend this book. You are really missing an important part of the sales process if you don’t use testimonials properly.
Testimonials are pretty simple – surely I didn’t need to read 125 pages about them?
But reading Sean’s book showed me how much more I could gain from using effective testimonials. And how much work I needed to do if I was going to get these results.

I thought I knew all about testimonials.
I had been receiving what I thought were excellent, good and bad ones for a number of years. Our business even got nominated
as a Supreme Host of the year as a result of our guests testimonials. But something was bugging me, I wanted more specific testimonials, less sugary general comments..
After buying the Secret life of Testimonial product, I knew I was on a winner. All the information I required for specific testimonials was there. Made sense and gave clarity of what is required.
The main benefit for me are the six questions that form the basis of the testimonials.
Some customers do have writers block, of where to start. I know I do. These questions then give the customer somewhere to start writing the testimonial. A lot more specific answers and information result when customers are given some direction to structure to their testimonials.
Another benefit of this product, is of many examples of structured testimonials and reverse testimonials. Sean also talks about enthusiasm in asking for testimonials. It can make a huge difference between good and outstanding testimonials. Very interesting.
He also covers the different ways of obtaining testimonials, the benefits of audio and video. And long and short testimonials.
The testimonial product is an easy read, understood and applicable to most industries. Word of mouth from satisfied customers can be so persuasive.

The Secret Life of Testimonials was my first exposure to Sean D’Souza. (I’ve since purchased and read The Brain Audit and a few other titles.) I found the book through a Google search on “testimonial.” The blog posts from the search results all sounded the same, but within one blog (I don’t remember which) Sean had posted a very lengthy and thought provoking comment to the thread. His comments made perfect sense to me and they seemed original, not just a rehash of everything else out there. Although I had no knowledge of Sean, his website or other products, I thought it was worth the risk to try the book.
My business is just underway, but I am excited about asking clients for testimonials. I’m motivated by the knowledge the testimonials actually serve a purpose and are mutually beneficial to myself and my clients.
I like the idea of a structure to the process of eliciting the testimonial using the Six Critical Questions. As I speak with potential clients, I mention the testimonials on their websites and highlight a few of the principles of the system. The principles seem to resonate with people and help me establish my credibility.
I also simply enjoyed reading the book. It is very entertaining and even though I’m a vegan, I was enchanted by the inclusion of the random chicken recipe. On the more practical side, the book includes solutions to common testimonial challenges.
The Secret Life of Testimonials was well-worth the purchase price. Having proven himself and the reliability of his content, Sean has put me on track to pursue the Psychotactics sequence.

Then I read some of the testimonials on the landing page and I was wondering if I really know everything about them… And I bought the book. And was not at all disappointed. Such a detail about the secrets of testimonials is impossible to find in a unique place. There is no specific features that I liked most, the entire book is a specific feature I loved.

The main obstacle that nearly prevented me from buying The Secret Life of Testimonials is my writer’s ego! Yes, I’m a writer, and in fact, I’m teaching online business owners how to write! So when I came across Sean’s site, I confess I struggled with the idea of buying something I thought I already knew.

The Brain Audit is a great find. I found the link from CopyBlogger.com that mentioned on how to write testimonials by using the 6 questions. When I visited the site, I was intrigued about how testimonials can bring in the customers that I want. This was too good to be true!
I wanted to make sure this was not a scam. I googled Psychotactics.com for any unsatisfied customers. I could not find any. So I bought the book. I said to myself, “What the heck?”, if this is a scam I’ll just lose $45.

When I saw Sean had packaged up his good advice on testimonials into an ebook for $39 I thought that, since I knew his testimonial questions already I didn’t need the book. Why waste $39?
Then I kept reading his always great sales copy and realized I really could use and update and the price was certainly right. I’m glad I did, as the refresher on the logic, details and variations on the questions and answers really added to my understanding. And the examples were the best part of all, as they gave me tons of inspiration on how I could present the info once I had gathered it. Seeing the ‘short’ and ‘long’ version of the same testimonial, and explanations of where I might use which was very helpful.

I have been using testimonials in sales letters, and on websites for many years. And I have given testimonials for products I love. I thought I knew a lot about testimonials: From the sugary sweet ones that say nothing bad to the ones that use Sean’s six questions he writes about in this book—which are really critical to get good, well, constructed testimonials from clients and/or customers. What I found while reading this book…well, by page 26—PAGE 26 itself—I already had a full sheet of notes on how to improve testimonials.
And as I continued reading, I found so many MORE new great ideas for getting testimonials—whether written, on audio, on video—and how to use them effectively. I was shocked, even a bit amused at how little I knew.
Utilizing the easy to understand, easy to implement information in this book should bring in far greater revenue. And even better, it solves a problem for me of how to get real, meaningful testimonials, doing it legitimately—and without making anything up, or needing to “bribe anyone”.

I have bought the Brain Audit, read and implemented the section in there on testimonials. It was excellent and I’ve used the questions to very powerful effect. So I did wonder if there’d be anything new in here.
Yet again Sean takes hold of a topic and interrogates it deeply. There is much, much more in this book. “The Secret Life of Testimonials” takes getting testimonials to a whole new level. What I liked most of all was the concept of your website as a mirror. The mirror concept goes into detail about how you need to post testimonials to get the kind of clients you want to attract. Like much of Sean’s work – an apparently simple concept elegantly explained, and so powerful when you implement it.
I also liked having examples of testimonials in the book (rather than having to look them up somewhere), so I could see see how the testimonials were constructed. The “techie” advice was also very helpful.
Whether you’ve read The Brain Audit or not you should read this book. It takes you through the testimonial story from the beginning but adds so many more layers—you’ll be gobsmacked. Plus a great deal of effort has gone into making the book easy to read. As a copywriter I know when something seems so easy to read, a great deal of thought has gone into its construction.

I particularly liked the run-down on how to create video testimonials as that’s something I’ve been thinking of doing, but wasn’t sure how to get started and how to approach it. Plus there are some great ideas on how to get testimonials using online media.

I would love to leave a testimonial on The Secret Life of Testimonials, but had issues downloading the white paper, and was unable to successfully get another link from Psychtactics (despite sending multiple emails through their website).

I came to work with you as a result of having to write content for a new web site we were having developed and any Marketing literature we need to produce. One of the elements for the site was Testimonials, I had only experience of the sugary ones.
I am one of 2 directors in NP Projects we provide IT support and IT installation services for small businesses in the UK. There are always demands on my time so I did not want to have to read a number of lengthy books on the subject, so I was looking on the web to see if I could find info on how to write compelling testimonials. The info had to be too the point, practical in nature so that I could quickly get on with it, and if the info came in an audio file I could listen to in my car that would be even better.

i initially thought that this product was not worth the price but i have to say i was proved wrong the system is great gives you a step by step process to getting testimonails and also when to get them and also teaches you exactly what to ask and then even tells you how to use the testimonials afterwards
I was reluctant to purchase the book because I already had a number of good testimonials, so I really questioned whether or not I needed a book on this topic. However, I liked Sean’s writing style and I wanted more. This was an inexpensive way to do that.
It turns out that buying the product was a really smart move. I discovered an effective way of getting more compelling testimonials from clients.
I loved the fact that this book came in audio format as well as text. I could learn while I walked and could quickly locate anything I needed to review in the text version later.

I thought the information was covered in other products and as I have the brain audit I thought it wuld be duplicate info.
However , I found that the information is very helpful and much more expanded then the chapter I read in the brain audit. I havent finished yet but already I have new ideas and am beginning to see a testimonial strategy developing for my business.
I especially liked the idea of e idea of getting testimonials about me as my product is so new.

I didn’t think that I needed guidance on how to put together a testimonial any further than what is outlined in The Brain Audit.
But when I started putting testimonials on my site and in my book, I realized that I had lots of questions. The Secret Life of Testimonials answered my questions and more.
My favorite part of the eBook is that it makes obtaining testimonials easily. For example, if the product is brand new, then ask testers for feedback. If there’s no time to read a whole book, then ask for specific chapters feedback. It works great!
Three other favorite points:
1. How to structure a testimonial
2. How to make testimonials shine by bringing out the drama
3. How to make sure we attract the clients we want by “mirroring” them with testimonials
I would recommend The Secret Life of Testimonials only to those who are serious about selling their product/service.
