“When I heard about this course, I was stoked.  I have been working on an ebook on giving presentations, and I wasn’t sure how I could tease out my own uniqueness.  So I signed up to this course in a flash.”

This course has taught me how to develop and state my uniqueness.  I have found this course really challenged me.  A natural stuffer of concepts (and turkeys), I wrestled with the idea that I had to remove all the other concepts that were muddying the water.  I have now got to the stage where I can now identify it in other people’s work, as well as my own.  I’m getting better at removing them, but it is still something that doesn’t come easy.

I have yet to complete my uniqueness for the presentations ebook.  If I don’t finish it before this week is out, I will start up a TAP and continue on there.

A huge thank you to Sean, who masterfully (and patiently) guided me through the maze.  And I want to thank Anita, Joshua, Mike and Andrew for all their positive feedback and insights – it made the biggest difference.

I have learned a lot through this course (and not just about uniqueness).

“I knew I had found a safe place to explore my own uniqueness and support my teammates as they explored theirs. It has been so gratifying to be part of such an exciting growth process for all of us.”

I had no idea I had gotten into this course until the day it started, and that’s probably a good thing. I had assumed I was still on the waiting list, so I had no time to panic before jumping right in. After being away from 5000bc for a number of months due to personal issues, I was having a hard time finding my way back. This course was the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Part of the reason I had stayed away was my deep fear that I didn’t have much to offer compared to the other members. I am easily intimidated by people who are more knowledgeable and experienced than I am, and I wondered if I had anything to bring to the table.

Well, I wonder no more. Thanks to the kindness and support of Sean, Team Green, and a couple of members of other teams, I felt welcomed and valued. I knew I had found a safe place to explore my own uniqueness and support my teammates as they explored theirs. It has been so gratifying to be part of such an exciting growth process for all of us.

I was surprised to learn how challenging it is to find a single uniqueness and ruthlessly strip away anything that doesn’t support it. But practicing the technique Sean taught us for drilling down to a single uniqueness definitely made the process easier, and it’s a wonderful tool that can readily be applied to many other situations.

My biggest learning is that 5000bc is a safe place for me to express and explore my uniqueness and help other members do the same. It’s great to be back!

Thank you Sean, Glynne, Joshua, Mike, Andrew, and Dave for sharing your compassion, wisdom, and humor and giving so much of yourselves to make this course such a wonderful experience.

“With a lot of struggle I could have possibly have come up with a uniqueness for my business on my own but the process for doing so would have been much more vague and haphazard.  I wouldn’t have had much of an idea of how to integrate it on my website either.”

I was thrilled when I received the announcement that Sean was offering this course.  I had to have been one of the first five people to sign-up.  With a lot of struggle I could have possibly have come up with a uniqueness for my business on my own but the process for doing so would have been much more vague and haphazard.  I wouldn’t have had much of an idea of how to integrate it on my website either.

I have gained a clear idea of how to find a uniqueness in most businesses now.  The system Sean has come up with really works.

The best thing about this course has been working with my team and Sean.  It made the whole process a lot of fun, rather than a struggle.  I realised I shouldn’t be doing any part of my business alone.  The support, feedback, ideas and suggestions of a group are exponentially greater than what I can come up with alone.  This was my biggest learning.

The enjoyment of getting to know each of you – Anita, Glynne, Mike, Andrew and Sean – and working with you in this course has been as much of a reward as what I have learned from it  -  thank you all very much for all that you have given.

“During this course I learned that many ideas aren’t good enough if we can’t narrow down and focus on one.”

Before doing the uniqueness course I thought had a good idea of what uniqueness means. I practiced narrowing down to just ONE using the method of Bag 7 in the Brain Audit. I actually did a pretty good job. My business uniqueness is: Process Safety Guidance. My expansion will clarify “guidance.”

During this course I learned that many ideas aren’t good enough if we can’t narrow down and focus on one. If we are going to sell our business, services, we need to make it absolutely clear to the customer why they should pick us. And that WHY must stand out in the crowd of other service providers.

I learned that capturing my thoughts on paper, i.e. the emperors’ list, then narrowing it down to just one is a very effective way to tame the numerous thoughts racing through my brain when I think about where I want to take my business.

”Before the course, if someone asked me to write about the uniqueness of some product or service, I likely would have written several paragraphs that covered too many thoughts that confuse, making it all forgettable.”

I took the Uniqueness Course because it sounded interesting. I always get value from doing courses. I really didn’t know what the course would be like or what to expect. As it turns out, the purpose of the course is to learn how to make ONE uniqueness-point memorable to a reader/listener.

The Uniqueness Course helped me develop effective statements that dramatize, in plain talk, just ONE uniqueness of a product or service.

Before the course, if someone asked me to write about the uniqueness of some product or service, I likely would have written several paragraphs that covered too many thoughts that confuse, making it all forgettable. In contrast, I learned that an effective statement consists of three simple components that state why a product/service is different and better (D&B) than Brand X.

Other courses and advisors have taught that you’ve gotta list many bullet-points plus overwhelming evidence to get people to remember unique information. Instead, this course streamlines the process of developing a simple, memorable uniqueness statement.

Did I mention that doing so takes dedicated practice? My biggest learning was learning how to unearth, prioritize, and isolate ONE uniqueness from many, then formulate and edit a uniqueness statement that’s easy to remember.

“I was already making the transition from marketing my practice as about being ‘all things to all people…’ I think the uniqueness course helped me ‘drill down’ to a very tight & focused description of whatever I was talking about. Which goes against my nature. . . “

Being a therapist who dealt with everything. It’s true that my training prepared me to do that, but in practice, there were areas that were more interesting to me. And that I work better with. I’m starting to understand that one of the benefits of the internet is being able to present myself to the people who ‘want’ exactly what I am doing.

I think the uniqueness course helped me ‘drill down’ to a very tight & focused description of whatever I was talking about. Which goes against my nature. . .

The most immediate benefit was what I learned about my business, being able to describe the core of my practice. What is it that I do & why it’s powerful & unique. The ‘main dish’ (to use Sean’s indian meal analogy.)

The two other lessons was learning the technique. And how powerful it is to just list what’s going on — in a situation, a business, a product, a problem — and then drill down to what’s most important. That’s an extraordinary life skill. Also, the structure of the course. The way we work with short, daily assignments. The power of working with a group—That was really a revelation and I now understand the value of 5000BC. I will definitely be doing more!

So, all in all, a great course.

“This course was eye opening. Before taking the course, my “education” was to throw in everything AND the kitchen sink – to try and appeal to as wide an audience as possible. Limiting the benefits to just ONE was counter-cultural to many of the copy writing books ebooks I had read.”

However, the problem I had was focus. With so many different ideas, how could I make one stand out?

Before I took the Uniqueness course, I was somewhat skeptical about the process. I followed through with the course somewhat grudgingly. As the first week went on, I discovered an innovative way to present an article writing course that was unique in its approach. After all, I had reasoned, who could really compete with Sean’s course – why even try? Some synergy and excitement grew about the possibilities of the process.

During the second week, I picked a product that I have been meaning to develop, but kept procrastinating over. As I played emperor, I was amazed at the list I generated. Paring that down to three features and then ONE was not that hard; it was very enlightening. And I felt “lightened” up – not carrying the burden of trying to be everything to everyone. And surprisingly enough, I found more energy once I found ONE feature that I could build that product around.

  1. So, I’m converted. I think the Uniqueness Course and the process are invaluable. I especially like the Uniqueness video which covers the BIG 3 points about Uniqueness. Since I purchased the Black Belt Presentations course, I was glad to see how Sean applied all of those concepts in the Uniqueness video – it was like having a double learning (but it was really ONE!)

“When I was developing my Sales Page I embraced your concepts and did a decent enough job that it’s generating (on average) $2k of sales a week with only one refund in the past seven months.”

I just signed up for the DC event. I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to this event!

Your work has had a huge impact on my business. I haven’t been able to spend any time at 5000BC – not while I’m still recording my training and working a full time job. But when I was developing my Sales Page I embraced your concepts and did a decent enough job that it’s generating (on average) $2k of sales a week with only one refund in the past seven months.

By talking to a single customer profile I’ve been able to manage expectations, attract exactly the type of client I want to attract, and charge a significant premium over my competition – making the whole endeavor completely worthwhile (in fact, it’s so successful I’m struggling now if it should get much more attention from me than it has).

I’m starting to map out ‘what’s next’ and I’m very excited to know I’ll get to spend a few days with you and other like-minded individuals pinning down and defining a uniqueness I can embrace.
